Spring in Charleston means blooming flowers, picnics in the park, and everyone sporting the new spring fashion trends! After scouring the NYC runways, magazines, and Instagram, here is one of the top trends for Spring/Summer 2020 - NEON. Okay - I wasn't too crazy about it either at first, but since we've gotten neon pieces in, it's grown on me! Neon makes an impact but the trick is to not make it tacky.
Be bold with color - and refined in your taste. To help you style this new trend, I've pulled together three neon outfits + appropriate accessories! Also, try neon in your makeup routine (bright pink neon lip? yes!). Keep reading for tips & tricks from our stylists & makeup artists.
The trick with neon is balance. Notice how we made the ruffled shirt the focal point but softened the look with light wash jeans. Keep it colorful with yellow sneakers + a hot pink headband! Stick with mainly solids: the pink headband, yellow shoes, neon green top, and jeans - then you can add a surprise pattern like the pineapple purse! See how the purse is the same colors as other pieces in the look? This refines the whole outfit!
I loooove a great shirt dress especially in a bright color (as we know from Pantone - blue is in)! This would be a great look for a spring or summer dinner date (drinks + dinner on Shem Creek, while watching the sunset, anyone?) and can be even more elevated by switching out the black and white sneakers for wedges. Because the dress is a statement color itself, play with one other bright color (in this case, hot pink) and balance the look with black accessories. With such a bright yellow flowy top, use natural accessories (like the macrame bag) to balance out the color! These slip on sandals are too cute! And who doesn't love a great pair of white jeans? I would totally wear this look to brunch, for a walk on the beach, or a stroll downtown!

Be bright with a colorful neon lip, as seen in the Carolina Herrera New York Fashion Week show. Keep it simple with tinted moisturizer, a thin black eyeliner, and mascara. Let your lips pop!

From Tracee Ellis Ross, to Rhianna, to Kylie Jenner, neon eyes are all the rage. We love using RMS Lip2Cheeks on the eyes in addition to the lips & cheeks! Take a thin brush to add it as liner, or use a shadow brush to blend all over the lid. With neon blush, blending is key. Apply to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards in a C shape! Want a more sheer look? Try Oilo e Osso's neon balm.
