I grew up in Wisconsin. No, I never wore a cheese head hat. Yes, I love cheesecurds beyond belief. Who wouldn’t like a cheese that squeaks between your teeth when you bite into it? Yes, a drinking fountain is called a “Bubbler”. Finally, I have a HUGE love for snow after spending many years of downhill ski racing in high school and college.
I attended the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse and from there did a semester abroad in Scotland. Heather in Heather! After traveling and returning back to the states I had the desire to see more. I transferred to the College of Charleston where I received a degree in Business Administration and have applied that to many years working in retail.
It finally came time to change course, so I worked as a Delivery Coordinator for a yacht brokerage. I will never forget my experience of sailing a 40’ yacht from Charleston to Tortola- ten days out at sea. Mother Nature doing her thing- beauty and the beast! Whew! That was the most life changing experience!
Seven years ago my husband and I began a whole new adventure. We have been living between Charleston and
Cody, Wyoming where we live on the TE Ranch (originally Buffalo Bill’s of the Wild West). John is the personal chef for the owners of the ranch. As for me I bake a lot of cookies, arrange flowers and make sure everyone is happy. We have fun! Although, it is tough to fit all that in between cattle drives, driving off the grizzly bears! Ha!
Now to the creative side…
Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to collect paper and drawing utensils (always important to have around). I love to gift wrap and find myself getting wrapped up (pun intended) in the presentation as much as the gift itself. I believe the visual presence should be uplifting and put a smile on someone’s face!
I love the eclectic energy in the store and feel very fortunate to be a part of this creative and dynamic crew. It has allowed me to express my “keep things in line” side but still let the creative juices pour out as well. I truly LOVE and APPRECIATE the family at Out of Hand.
Whew!!
